OLDER ADULTS’ COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR (FREELANCE)

Commitment: Approximately 8 Hours Per Week

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking to appoint a compassionate, proactive and community minded individual to support the delivery and continued development of our older adult’s wellbeing provision.

Working alongside the Community Projects Manager, freelance delivery staff, volunteers and Board of Trustees, the successful contractor will play an important role in supporting older adults across our communities to remain active, connected and engaged.

The successful contractor will support the continued delivery of our established Silver Spirit provision whilst assisting in identifying opportunities to enhance our wider offer for adults aged 50+ through purposeful physical, social and wellbeing-based activity.

SERVICE DELIVERY EXPECTATIONS

The contract is based on approximately 8 hours of delivery and support per week.

Services may be delivered flexibly across all 7 days of the week, subject to community need and mutual agreement.

Availability to support Monday 9:00am to 12:00pm is required as this is the fixed delivery slot for Silver Spirit.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

Support the planning and delivery of Silver Spirit sessions and associated older adults provision.

Create welcoming, inclusive and engaging environments for participants.

Build positive and trusting relationships with attendees, carers, volunteers and community partners.

Work collaboratively with the Community Projects Manager to identify opportunities for additional engagement for adults aged 50+.

Assist in developing and facilitating additional purposeful physical, social or wellbeing-based activities where appropriate.

Promote activities within the local community to increase engagement and participation.

Maintain registers, monitoring data, participant feedback and other programme records.

Provide information and updates to support programme monitoring, evaluation and impact reporting.

Operate in accordance with organisational safeguarding, health and safety and data protection policies.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

Friendly, approachable and empathetic manner.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Good organisation and administrative skills.

Passion for improving wellbeing and reducing social isolation in local communities.

Desirable

Experience working with older adults, vulnerable adults or within community wellbeing settings.

Experience supporting or delivering group based activities.

Knowledge of the Chorley area and surrounding communities.

Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle.

Understanding of safeguarding good practice.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This opportunity is offered on a freelance / self-employed basis and contractors will be responsible for their own tax and National Insurance arrangements.

Delivery may take place across multiple community venues and satellite hubs.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS Check prior to commencement.
